Mug cake - The quickest and cheapest chocolate cake ever

This article is unusual for this site. This week I had to present something in my English class, and I thought that would be cool to share one of my favorites recipes: Mug Cake. It will take just 2 minutes to make, is cheap and not messy.

 Despite the instructions above, I will write down some directions on how to make it:

Making the cake

  1. Mix inside the mug the dry ingredients:
    • 3 full tablespoons of self-raising flour
    • 4 full tablespoons of instant chocolate
  2. Add the rest of the ingredients:
    • 1 egg
    • 1 tablespoon of oil
    • 2 tablespoons of milk
  3. Mix everything very well using a fork, until you have a homogeneous mixture
  4. Heat for about 1 minute in the microwave oven

Making the covering

  1. Mix inside a small cup:
    • 3 tablespoons of instant chocolate
    • 1 full tablespoon of margerine (or unsalted butter)
    • 1 tablespoon of milk
  2. Heat for 30 seconds in the microwave oven. You can pour it over the cake, or dip the cake inside it, it's up to you

Pro-Tips

You can add one or more of the following ingredients to the cake, to improve and vary the taste!

  • 1 teaspoon of smashed instant coffee
  • 1 teaspoon of honey
  • A pinch of cinnamon
  • Few drops of flavor extract (vanilla, almond, hazelnut, or whatever you want to try)
  • Add chocolate drops, M&Ms or smashed chocolate
  • Sink a piece of marshmallow
